“Our stance on the need to hold the Normandy format summit is unwavering. As long as there is no progress, the pressure on the Russian Federation must remain in place. And we want to see very active efforts of our partners in this issue,” Zelensky said at a joint briefing with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Kyiv, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
He also noted that the priority topic of today’s talks with Merkel was the peace process in eastern Ukraine.
“It is important that Ukraine, Germany, and France have a consolidated position on the peace settlement plan within the Normandy Four,” the President said.
He also noted that “the Paris agenda, which must be implemented, remains relevant.”
“We strive for a permanent and stable ceasefire, exchange of detainees, the opening of entry-exit checkpoints from the direction of the temporarily occupied territories, and the long-awaited access to the temporarily occupied territories for representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross,” he said.
