Russia must be punished with sanctions for the construction of the Crimean bridge and the expropriation of the property of Ukrainian citizens and companies in the occupied peninsula, and the “Crimean” package of sanctions must be in effect until the territorial integrity of Ukraine is restored. Such statements were made by US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State and former Charge d’Affaires in Ukraine George Kent at the founding summit of the Crimean Platform in Kiev.
“Sanctions against Russia due to the annexation of Crimea should remain on Russia until Russia resumes the territorial integrity of Ukraine,” the American diplomat emphasized.
He clarified that not only the Russian state should be under sanctions pressure. But also companies and citizens who support the occupation by developing business in Crimea and traveling to the occupied peninsula.
