US President Joe Biden during a meeting with Acting Chancellor of Germany and a candidate for the post of head of the German government raised the issue of NS-2.
On the sidelines of the G20 summit in Rome, the American leader held talks with Acting German Chancellor Angela Merkel and German Prime Minister-designate Olaf Scholz. This was reported by the press service of the White House.
It is noted that the parties discussed the situation in Afghanistan, as well as the Russian Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline and its impact on energy security in Europe and Ukraine.
“President Biden stressed the importance of continuing to implement the US-Germany agreement on support for Ukraine and European energy security so that Russia cannot manipulate natural gas flows for harmful political purposes,” the statement said.
It will be recalled that in the European Parliament, the head of the largest parliamentary group, Manfred Weber, accused Russia of using gas as a “political weapon” and called for “harsh” treatment of it through Nord Stream-2.
