With each year, marathons gain greater and greater popularity. The TCS New York City Marathon is one of the most prominent events, attracting over 50,000 runners from across the world and receiving extensive media coverage.
Not all events garner similar levels of attention, however. It has been seven years since Russia occupied Crimea and started a war in Eastern Ukraine. It has de facto occupied two Ukrainian regions, forcing over 1.5 million people to flee their homes.
This is why Nova Poshta decided to launch another “New York” marathon — in a small Ukrainian town also named New York, in the Donetsk region, less than a mile from the front line. A marathon that aims to remind the world that the war in Ukraine is still ongoing, and to rally support for our cause.
