The US Senate is ready to consider amendments to the defense budget, including new tough sanctions against participants of the Nord Stream 2 certification.

Following the approval of 21 amendments, the Senate will vote on the final approval of the draft defense budget of approximately $ 770 billion.

The version of the defense budget with sanctions against Nord Stream 2 was approved by the US House of Representatives.

It was reported earlier that the administration of US President Joe Biden had opposed imposing further strict restrictions against Nord Stream 2, so as not to spoil relations with NATO allies. However, if the Senate supports the defense budget along with new sanctions, the US president will have no choice but to sign the approved document.
