The Serbian government and Russia’s state nuclear corporation Rosatom have signed agreements to build a Centre for Nuclear Technologies and found a joint company to realise the project in Serbia, a statement released on Thursday said.

The agreement was signed ahead of a visit to Moscow by Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabić,  Nenad Popović, Innovation and Technological Development Minister and president of an inter-governmental committee on cooperation, and Rosatom Overseas president Evgeny Pakermanov.

The agreement envisages the construction of a Centre for Nuclear Medicine in Serbia based on cyclotron-based nuclear medicine and facilities for producing radiopharmaceutical drugs in Serbia within the next three years.

“The radiopharmaceutical complex and the Centre for Nuclear Medicine will provide accessible high technology medical aid, directed, above all, at solving problems in the fight against oncological diseases,” Rosatom GM Alexey Likhachev has said.
