Terrorist leaders of the so-called “DPR” and “LPR” Denis Pushilin and Leonid Pasechnik have called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to recognize the independence of the pseudo-republic.

Denis Pushilin, the leader of the Kremlin-controlled “DPR”, has called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to recognize the independence of the so-called Donetsk people’s republic. A similar appeal was made by the leader of the so-called “LPR”, Leonid Pasechnik.

They asked the Russian leadership to consider the possibility of signing friendship and cooperation agreements with their regions, including cooperation in the defence sector.

The Russian State Duma on 15 February passed a resolution to immediately send to the Russian president a Duma address on the need to recognize the so-called “DPR” and “LPR”.

Also on 15 February, the Ukrainian parliament adopted an appeal to the United Nations, the European Commission, the European Parliament, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, the governments and parliaments of the world states on non-recognition of the independence of the occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said that Russia’s recognition of the independence of the occupied Donetsk and Luhansk regions would be its deliberate withdrawal from the Minsk agreements.
