Ukrainian authorities plan to confiscate approximately 500 billion dollars of assets from Russian oligarchs. International partners are ready to help with this.
This was announced by Prime Minister Denis Shmygal in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
“Our partners are ready to help us so that we really have this great resource. To date, about 300 billion dollars of Russian assets have been arrested, “ Prime Minister said.
He says that these are reserves of Russia, funds that are arrested in the United States, Canada and other countries. Instead, Russian oligarchs want to confiscate about 500 billion dollars.
“We and our partners want to confiscate and receive all these funds in favor of Ukraine,” said Shmygal.
He says that Canada may become the first country to introduce national legislation providing for the confiscation and transfer of frozen assets of Russian oligarchs to Ukraine.
“Now we are negotiating this with the Prime Minister of Canada, with the Ministry of Finance and the government,” the Prime Minister added.
