Presidents of Ukraine and France will keep in touch in the context of the conclusion of the European Commission on our state’s application for EU accession.
This was agreed on by Emmanuel Macron and Volodymyr Zelensky during a telephone conversation on Thursday, Ukrinform reports with reference to the Elisha Palace.
“They agreed to keep in touch, especially given the opinion that the European Commission will give on Ukraine’s application for EU accession, and the discussion that will take place at the meeting of the European Council on 23 and 24 June,” the communique said.
In addition, it is noted that Macron asked Zelensky about the latest events in Ukraine, as well as the needs of our country in military equipment, political and financial support and humanitarian assistance.
“He told President Zelensky that France would remain mobilized to meet the needs of Ukraine, including heavy weapons,” – reports Elisha Palace.
Next week, the European Commission will publish a conclusion with specific recommendations on Ukraine’s application for EU membership.
On June 23-24, a meeting of the European Council should be held in Brussels, one of the issues of which will be the consideration of Ukraine’s application for EU membership and the decision to grant it the status of a candidate country.
