Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and German Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture Cem Özdemir discussed the development of Ukrainian small and medium-sized business, EU candidate status for Ukraine, and prevention of global food crisis.

“Economic recovery is critical to Ukraine’s victory. Discussed with Federal Minister Cem Özdemir development of small and medium enterprises. Called on Germany to support EU candidate status for Ukraine and prevent a global food crisis,” Shmyhal posted on Twitter.

On February 24, Russia launched an unprovoked full-scale war against Ukraine. As a result of the Russian aggression and blockade, more than 20 million tonnes of grain intended for export remain stuck at the Ukrainian ports. This has posed a global hunger threat as almost half of all supplies under the UN World Food Programme account for Ukrainian grain.
