Protests have broken out before Anna Netrebko’s performance in Hamburg. Around three dozen demonstrators gathered in front of the Elbphilharmonie.
On Wednesday evening, the Russian star soprano Anna Netrebko gave a concert at the Elbphilharmonie together with her husband Yusif Eyvazov. Beforehand, about three dozen demonstrators gathered on the forecourt of the concert hall. They protested against the performance – the 45-year-old is accused of closeness to the Kremlin and Russia’s President Vladimir Putin.
In one photo, the protesters can be seen holding up cardboard signs with slogans such as “No stage for Putin’s artist,” “These concert tickets finance the death of our children,” or “Don’t support Putin’s friends.” In addition, they carry flags of Ukraine. A box to dispose of concert tickets instead of using them has also been set up, according to the “Hamburger Abendblatt”.
