This was due to the refusal of the Bulgarian government to switch to settlements in Russian rubles and the expiration of the gas supply contract between PJSC “Gazprom” and the state oil and gas company “Bulgargaz”. However, the supply of Russian gas continues. This happens with the help of the Greek energy company intermediary “Mytilineos S.A.”. Thus, Russian gas supplied through the Turkish Stream pipeline is incredibly transformed into Norwegian gas. In this scheme, the Greek company is engaged in falsifying the certificate of origin, and since Bulgaria already imports liquefied gas from Norway, it does not raise any special questions.
Most likely, this scheme of obtaining Russian energy resources was deployed under the leadership of pro-Kremlin President Radev and the interim government controlled by him, who are in favor of maintaining cooperation with Russia.
