Lockheed Martin’s plant in Camden, Arkansas that produces mobile rocket launchers is set to increase production of the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) following the system’s success in Ukraine, which has resulted in increased demand from other nations. The popularity of HIMARS has been growing, and mobile phone camera footage of the weapon in action during the Ukraine conflict has only added to its recognition.
To meet the increased demand, Lockheed has invested in upgrades to its 282,000 square foot building, including a paint booth, non-skid coating mixer, tire assembly manipulator arm, and an axel installation track. According to Lockheed executives, the company only needs a few upgrades to meet the increased production rate, which Lockheed’s CEO says will be increased to 96 units per year.
