Valery Zaluzhny, the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, published a video that shows the destruction of the Russian ship “Saratov” in Berdyansk. The attack took place exactly a year ago.
Valery Zaluzhny posted his latest publication on Facebook. This is a video showing the destruction of a Russian ship. “The large landing ships ‘Orsk’, ‘Cesar Kunikov’, ‘Novocherkask’ were damaged and ‘Saratov’ was destroyed,” he wrote.
The commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces stressed that ” the myth of the indestructibility of the Russian fleet has been disproved by accurate strikes .”
“This once again proved an irrefutable fact: the enemy will not know peace on Ukrainian soil. Neither on land nor on water” – stressed Zaluzhny.
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces announced the destruction of the Russian landing ship Saratov in the port of Berdyansk in March last year, a month after the start of the Russian invasion .
“As a result of the strike in the port of Berdyansk, occupied by the occupiers, the large landing ship ‘Saratov’ was destroyed. Other large landing ships – ‘Cesar Kunikov’ and ‘Novocherkask’ – were damaged. Information on the remaining losses of the enemy is being determined,” the general staff said at the time.
The Ukrainian editorial office of Radio Svoboda notes that it was only after a year that the Russian side admitted to losing a unit and damaging others, which it had previously denied. In the occupied Crimea, a plaque commemorating the sailors who died on the attacked ships was unveiled.
“A year ago, during combat operations, we lost the landing ship Saratov. We lost sailors of the landing ship Saratov, Novocherkask, and Cezar Kunikov,” said the military commander of the occupation fleet in Crimea.
Russian media reported that the ship was sunk to avoid detonation.
